Keep Steeping Those E-Liquids My Friends

Steeping is a way of experiencing the same e-liquids in a whole new way. However, this is not to mean that steeping is for everyone. There are some people who love their e-juices when steeped and those that will find steeped liquids to be awful. And, there is nothing wrong with that. But, if you have never tried it and you think it could help improve the flavors of your e-juice, the following guide will assist you in going about it. But first let us look at what steeping is.

What is Steeping?

Steeping is equal to aging of e-liquids. Through steeping, the flavors, base, and nicotine blend together. Also, the volatile alcohols in an e-liquid evaporate, thus eliminating the harsh chemical-like taste. In this way, steeping helps to improve the quality of your juices, which add to a more satisfactory vaping experience. Therefore, steeping is recommended where you find the flavor of your liquid to be too strong or too sweet or where you are using homemade e-juice.

How to Steep

There are many methods of steeping, but basically they all involve introducing air to the e-liquids to assist with the oxidation. Also, there is a bit of shaking involved and of course leaving the e-liquid to seat for a few days or weeks. Here are some of the most common methods of steeping.

The Slow Method

This is a natural steeping method, but it takes the longest and is hence not suitable for impatient vapers. This method entails removing the wrappers of the e-liquid bottles and storing them in a cool, dark, and dry place. During the steeping period, you will want to ensure that the liquid isn’t hit by sunlight. Also, you will need to shake up the e-liquids and remove the caps for a few minutes. Do this several times a day for the best outcome.

Fast Methods

The fast steeping methods are of course of the impatient who want to enjoy their flavors as soon as possible. These methods involve the introduction of heat to help in speeding up the oxidation process. And, because heat is introduced, it is important that glass jars be used. These is because they are less vulnerable to heat and you won’t be risking melting them and losing your e-juice.

The fast steeping methods are so many and can only be limited by creativity. The most common of fast steeping processes is the hot water bath. Here, you need to put your e-liquids in a zip bag then place them in a hot water bath. After the water runs cold, remove the liquids and uncap them to release the gases formed. Other than hot water baths, Slow cookers, the glove compartment of your car, blow dryer and even the fan of your computer can be used to provide the heat required for fast steeping.

There is no right or wrong method of steeping. The key is to first understand whether you will be patient with the process or not. This way, you will be able to choose between the slow and fast steeping methods.
